Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Southtown, Diez Flores is owned by Brittany and Jerry Gonzalez, a dynamic father-daughter team. Under the guidance of Chef Tatu Herrera and mixologist Hector Vargas, the restaurant offers a tantalizing journey through the cuisines of 10 distinct Latin American countries. Embark Marketing was approached by the client in preparation for the launch of their new Latin-inspired bar, Diez Flores. Seeking assistance across multiple marketing fronts, including social media, public relations, and influencer outreach, the client aimed to create a buzz around their establishment. 

For the focus of this case study, we’ll delve into the details of the grand opening campaign exclusively.

Grand Opening Campaign

The grand opening of Diez Flores spanning two days, from December 15th-16th, 2023, was filled with captivating promotions that enticed customers to eagerly partake. Throughout both days, patrons were treated to all day live music from local artists and drink specials.

Social Media Marketing Tactics

In formulating a social media marketing strategy, Embark Marketing planned and coordinated photography and videography shoots to develop high-quality content so that the agency could implement a cohesive & engaging strategy with the content.

Targeted Ads

Embark Marketing implemented a social media advertising approach, showcasing tailored ads aimed at the San Antonio community across Facebook and Instagram platforms. These ads prioritized video views, local outreach, page likes/follows, and post interactions.

Public Relations Tactics

Trade Influencer Campaign:

Embark Marketing prompted the Diez Flores team to extend invitations to local influencers, urging them to showcase the new restaurant on their social media channels for heightened visibility. Upon agreement, influencers were offered the opportunity to sample 3-4 dishes with a guest. We were able to arrange for 11 influencers to experience the new Latin bar firsthand. Here are some instances of influencers who highlighted the Latin bar.

Traditional Press:

Embark Marketing executed a targeted public relations strategy tailored to the local market to enhance visibility and generate interest in the contemporary concept. This effort resulted in garnering press coverage from 8 publications including print media, blogs, and television. From SA Current, MySA, CultureMap, a live TV segment with KSAT 12 and various other local publications.

SA Foodie Social Media Paid Influencer Partnership:

In addition to traditional media channels, Embark Marketing made contact with the leading foodie influencer in San Antonio, Texas, SA Foodie, managed by Amanda Spencer. With a substantial following of over 470k and a track record of delivering high-quality content and outcomes, Amanda presented an ideal collaborator. Recognizing the alignment between Diez Flores’ aesthetics and culinary concept, we saw this partnership as a significant opportunity to boost brand exposure and bolster social media presence, as well as to enhance engagement.

Grand Opening:

While Amanda couldn’t showcase us prior to or during the grand opening, she did so a week afterward. On December 27th, she shared a reel on her Instagram featuring Diez Flores, along with a giveaway offering two $50 gift cards. The giveaway lasted from December 27th, 2023, to January 3rd, 2024.

As a result of our social media approach, meta ad strategy & influencer campaign, we successfully attracted 3,380 followers on Instagram. Moreover, our press coverage significantly boosted brand recognition for the new location within the local community. These combined efforts led to a surge in new customers flocking to the new bar concept to experience the latest hotspot in Southtown. Although specific sales data for the grand opening wasn’t provided, the client reassured us that the opening was a resounding success, drawing visitors from across San Antonio to explore the new venue.
