The Season is Getting A Little Bit Sweeter with Baklovah Bakery and Sweets

Looks like this season is getting a little bit sweeter. Baklovah Bakery and Sweets, located on 9329 Wurzbach Rd., STE 104, is the latest addition to the Pasha Mediterranean and Naara Cafe family.

We first noticed this gem back in August as we were dining at Pasha Mediterranean Grill. Since then, we have driven by patiently every week to see if it was open and FINALLY it is!

This little piece of heaven opened its doors in mid-October serving delicious snacks, desserts and pastries daily from 10am-8pm. On our first visit, choosing from the variety of hand-made pastries quickly became overwhelming. With all of the delicious options of baklava, mousse, opera cakes and macarons, it’s really hard to choose. Thankfully the bakery offers their traditional sweets by the pound, or in a ready-to-go pack.

Our Experience

The staff’s demeanor proved friendly, and lived up to the reputation the Pasha restaurant family has built. The woman behind the counter took the time to tell us a little bit about each sweet, and recommend her favorites. We tried everything she said she liked, of course.

Our favorite treat, the Bird’s Nest, is pictured above. The variety of other pastries we tried were equally delicious. The atmosphere was very inviting and we really appreciated the awesome customer service.

The name Baklovah, we are assuming, comes from the staple dessert, Baklava. Notice the difference? Baklava is a sweet pastry made of layers of filo, and chopped nuts held together by honey. The cute play on words let’s us know this will be home away from home for all those who love the dessert.

Honestly, the fact that the bakery is down the street from the office, might get a little dangerous. We have already been back a few times since our first visit, just to pick up pastries for the office. If that doesn’t tell ya how good it is, we don’t know what will.
